APEX 2018 Highlights Market Trends

Methods Automation was thrilled to participate in this year’s IPC APEX Show in San Diego, California.

After speaking to suppliers over the course of the event, we gathered that there has been significant growth in sales over the past year within the industry.  The unanimous feedback was an optimistic approach for the future, with many customers planning to invest in expanding their capacities and/or technology reach in the coming year.

While there were many interesting systems and products at APEX, there were a few “buzz-worthy” stand-outs:

  1. Optical Control’s x-ray component counter with stitch-less imaging and the market’s most advanced component recognition software algorithms – http://www.optical-control.de/?lang=en
  2. Air-Vac Engineering’s AVX1000 SMA rework system with fiducial recognition and automated component placement – http://www.air-vac-eng.com/AVX1000.html
  3. The introduction of Nordson Dage’s Quadra 3 X-Ray Inspection System. This new offering is uniquely positioned with high end features and resolution at an entry level cost – http://www.nordson.com/en/divisions/dage/products/x-ray-inspection-systems/quadra-3-x-ray-inspection-system
